Senior Application Support Engineer (#1,387,205,150)

Temporary, Contract We are Nexmo. We are an emerging leader in the $100b+ cloud communication and telecom markets. Customers like Airbnb, Viber, Whatsapp, Snapchat, and many others depend on our communications platform to connect with their customers.

We are looking for an Application Engineer, who will support a variety of production and internal facing systems dealing with high volumes of transactions.
Act as the Engineering escalation point for the support and operations team in the event of application issues
Build tools and scripts to automate tasks, improve business processes and monitor/maintain the production environment e.g. data recovery, migration, and message replay
Actively observe production systems to early-identify issues
Work autonomously to research and identify patterns or causes ofissues
Create documentation to improve team processes
Desired Skills & Experience
3+ years of experience in an engineering role
Python or Java coding ability with a focus on clean & readable code (other languages will be considered)
Experience of building/debugging software, and analysing application/ system log files
Familiar with web technologies e.g. HTML, CSS, Javascript/Typescript, REST (Vue.JS would be ideal)
A deep understanding of UNIX/Linux systems and basic sysadminabilities
A deep understanding of networking and related services (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, FTP, etc.)
A deep understanding of databases (MySQL), SQL queries and dataschemas
Comfortable working with low level packet traces to troubleshoot
Able to work with data in formats such as CSV, XML, JSON, etc both manually and programatically
A good understanding of server-side software built out of many interacting components
An understanding of concurrency and scalability and multi-threading
Previous experience working with highly available systems, extremely high volume platforms, micro services, or messaging systems a hugeplus
