Summary:

Facebook seeks a highly motivated and experienced team player to act as Data Protection Counsel on Facebook Ireland's Data Protection team. This position is an outstanding opportunity for any candidate that thrives on tackling some of today's toughest and important legal challenges, working with the most talented people around, in this cutting edge and exciting area of law. This is a unique opportunity to join a progressive company and growing international legal team and work on issues in a vibrant, fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will have diverse experience in this field of law within the European context, and in particular enjoy and have experience in the challenge of applying complex and evolving legal frameworks to new and innovative products and services. This role is located in Dublin. This role will require some international travel.

Required Skills:
1. Provide policy, product, engineering, sales, operations and other business teams with legal advice on data protection laws and regulations.
2. Provide support to wider legal team on European regulatory and litigation matters and liaise with regulators
3. Contribute to and provide data protection training and awarenessprograms
4. Monitor and respond to developments in data protection and information security (i.e., new laws, regulations, important judgements, regulatory guidance, etc.)
5. Analyse products, policies and initiatives to provide practical legal advice on risk assessment and mitigation for products across multiple jurisdictions

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Qualified lawyer and admitted to practice in one EUjurisdiction
2. Minimum of 3 years of relevant post-qualification legal experience, including at a law firm or prior in-house experience
3. Significant experience advising on Data Protection compliance and privacy issues

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Strong knowledge of, and keen interest in, online social media platforms. Prior experience working with technology companies aplus
2. Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to get the job done
3. Ability to independently, quickly and accurately assess legal, practical and business risks in a fast-paced environment and to find pragmatic and creative solutions
4. Excellent problem-solving, written and oral communicationskills
5. Exceptional interpersonal skills and an absolute commitment to professionalism and collegiality
6. Knowledge of, or fluency in, other European languages a plus.
